Leslie Nielsen (1926 -- 2010)
Leslie Nielsen was born in February 1926 in Saskatchewan, Canada. He started his acting career on television aged 18, and within two years had notched up 50 TV appearances. Over the course of his career he appeared in over 100 films and 1,500 television programmes.
His serious film roles included Forbidden Planet (1956) and The Poseidon Adventure (1972) as the Captain of the doomed liner. At the age of 84, Leslie Nielsen was taken to hospital near his home in Florida, suffering from pneumonia. He passed away peacefully on 28 November 2010.
